Peacock Alley Introduces the Ella Bedding Collection: A Collaboration with Joey Lancaster

Launching this summer, Ella is Peacock Alley's first artist-inspired bedding collection: a collaboration with Fort Worth-based artist Joey Lancaster, whose richly textured floral compositions have earned her a devoted following in the world of decorative arts. Translated into soft, stonewashed European linen, Lancaster's signature aesthetic finds a natural home in the bedroom.

The collection is also personal. Ella is named in honor of Peacock Alley's founder, Mary Ella Gabler, the woman who built America's first woman-owned luxury bedding brand from a single handmade pillow discovered at a Dallas dinner party in 1973.

By naming our first artist collaboration in her honor, we connect this exciting new chapter to the foundational spirit of our origins.

The Artist Behind the Collection

Joey Lancaster is a Fort Worth-based, self-taught artist with more than three decades in the decorative arts industry. Her work is rooted in the pursuit of beauty and emotional connection, featuring richly textured compositions built from plaster, mixed media, and a deep love for nature and movement. Lancaster's florals carry a timeless and personal quality that ties the room together.

"Partnering with Peacock Alley beautifully marries two of my greatest loves: interiors and art," says Lancaster. "Translating my artistic approach into functional pieces like bedding, which can elevate a room in the same way art does, feels like a true dream. I am deeply honored to contribute to the Ella Collection."

That translation of the original artwork into woven linen is what sets the Ella Collection apart. The floral motif isn't simply reproduced on fabric. It's interpreted: the softness, texture, and quiet elegance found in Lancaster's plaster and mixed-media originals, now expressed in a material that rewards daily use and gets more beautiful over time.

Made for Summer and Seasons Beyond

The Ella Collection is crafted in Portugal from 100% European linen, stonewashed to a softness that arrives ready to love. Linen is the ideal fabric for warm months because it’s breathable, naturally temperature-regulating, and relaxing in a way that heavier bedding isn't. It softens with every wash and develops a relaxed, lived-in quality that mass-market bedding can't replicate.

The collection is available in two colorways: Natural and Sky. Natural is warm and grounded, the tone of unbleached linen in afternoon light. Sky is softer, cooler, and calming. Both are designed to layer beautifully with existing Peacock Alley bedding, and both work as effortlessly in a coastal bedroom as they do in a sun-filled city apartment.

"The Ella Collection reflects our continued commitment to creating beautifully crafted bedding that brings comfort and artistry into the home," says Peacock Alley CEO Jason Needleman. "As our first artist-inspired bedding collection, Ella translates the beauty of floral artwork into a timeless design, rendered in soft, stonewashed European linen. The collection feels perfectly suited for summer — light, relaxed, and effortlessly luxurious."

The Ella duvet covers and shams are finished with thoughtful construction details that reflect the craftsmanship Peacock Alley has brought to every collection since 1973.

A Name with Meaning

Naming this collection "Ella" was a deliberate tribute. Mary Ella Gabler founded Peacock Alley in Dallas in 1973, building what became the first woman-owned, woman-operated multimillion-dollar bedding brand in America.

Her story began with a single handmade boudoir pillow that was noticed by a Neiman Marcus buyer at a dinner party and grew into a brand defined by craft, beauty, and an uncompromising standard of quality.

Peacock Alley has spent more than 50 years honoring that legacy through multigenerational mill partnerships, in-house workrooms in Dallas, and materials sourced from the small fraction of the world's cotton that meets their standards. The Ella Collection adds a new dimension to that legacy: the belief that a beautifully made bed can carry the same emotional weight as a piece of original art.

Styling the Ella Collection: Tips for the Layered Bed

Because the Ella pattern is rooted in subtle, organic tones, it serves as an excellent focal point for a beautifully layered summer bed. The collection is intentionally designed to mix and match with Peacock Alley’s classic white and neutral staples.

For a crisp, serene look, pair the Ella Duvet in Sky with our Boutique percale sheets and a white matelassé coverlet, letting the cool blue floral motif add a soft pop of texture.

If you prefer a warmer, more grounded aesthetic, style the Ella Duvet in Natural alongside our washed linen sheets in complementary earth tones. To finish the look, use the Ella Shams to create depth against your euro pillows, creating an inviting, multi-dimensional retreat that feels curated rather than manufactured.
