Mary Ella Gabler started her dream company in 1973 when she sold 250 patchwork pillows to Neiman Marcus for its storied Fortnight celebration. She chose the perfect name for her new company: Peacock Alley. The moniker harkens back to the Waldorf Astoria's famed gathering space of the same name, which was a long marble corridor where the well-to-do would congregate at the turn of the century.

THREE LINEN BUYING TRUTHS THAT WILL MAKE YOU BUY DIFFERENTLY

Don’t make the same mistakes when buying your next bedroom or bathroom refresh.

1. MOST BRANDS ARE FOCUSED ON THINGS LIKE THREAD COUNT

Other brands artificially increase thread counts by using two, three, sometimes four or even five-ply yarns. This leads to sheets with ‘prickly’ ends that result in a less soft, less comfortable sleep.

The Peacock Alley Way: Rather than focusing on marketing thread count, we believe in sourcing the finest long-staple, cotton and finishing the base cloth in the highest-quality way. This leads to bedding that lasts longer, is softer, and promotes a better night’s sleep.

2. MOST BRANDS CUT CORNERS WHEN IT COMES TO CONSTRUCTION

Mass produced in mills where supply chain and quality are secondary to marketing dollars, a lot of the upstart brands finish their products in the cheapest possible fashion. This leads to bed and bath linens that aren’t built to last the tests of daily life.

The Peacock Alley Way: We are tirelessly focused on the small details that make high-quality, long-lasting linens. There are no corners cut at Peacock Alley. This ensures that not only will you be able to appreciate the tiny, subtle details of our linens on a daily basis but it will stand the test of your daily lives.

3. MOST BRANDS SOURCE THEIR PRODUCTS THROUGH MIDDLE MEN

If the brand you buy your linens from doesn’t have a direct relationship with their mills, how can you rely on them to deliver you a quality product? This is a statement of fact for many upstart 'luxury' brands and bed-in-a-box companies.

The Peacock Alley Way: We have multi-generational relationships with the owners of mills across the world. Our founder and her sons still operate the business to this day and they are sometimes working with the second and third generations at our mills. If your bedding company doesn't know their mills, they don’t know your linens.

A Few of Our Favorites

"But the common thread between them -- what makes me feel happy, secure, warm and home, no matter where I am in this world -- is something simple as this: beautiful textiles sewn with love and care. Pure, luxurious, homespun comfort."
- Mary Ella Gabler, Founder of Peacock Alley

ROOTED IN 45+ YEARS OF HERITAGE AND EXPERTISE

This is the story of a single mother who didn't play by the rules; who didn't listen when she was told you can't.

A woman so strong she found a way to make it work; you don't typically think of textiles and grit in the same sentence.

But this isn't your typical story; this is the story of a brand that created a category; often imitated but never truly duplicated.

From quilt trading to patchwork pillows to the most sophisticated duvet covers, sheets, and towels in the world; refined to last but purposely crafted to be lived in.

Quality, design, and craftsmanship are equal parts art and science; we've been perfecting the craft for 45 years so that you can focus on the moments that matter the most.

From our family to yours, we are Peacock Alley - for your life, well-lived.
