Designer Bed Series

In 2016, Peacock Alley launched the Designer Bed Series, a monthly program in which premier interior designers are invited to build a “Dream Bed” to be displayed in one of our stores. Using our product, designers showcase their own aesthetic, inspiration and signature style.

This year, we are so fortunate to launch the program with an incredible group of designers who each in their unique way have created looks that are making a powerful statement in our stores around the country.

When asked to design a bed for Peacock Alley, Brooke and Steve stayed true to their core philosophy, mixing velvet and linen (check out Brooke’s blog; Velvet & Linen) in a serene color palette. “The foundation of our bed is Mandalay Cuff in White. This white cotton sheeting provides natural texture that mellows with each wash. The linen cuff on the sheeting lends an unexpected polished detail. On top of the white base, we layered a wonderfully textured Juliet matelasse coverlet. The Linen color of this piece brings a warmth and a masculine touch to the bed, while the classic design whispers a hint of history… as if this coverlet could be a family heirloom.

Folded at the foot of the bed is a plush Mandalay Mist duvet with Linen cording, bringing a hint of soothing color. Our selection of pillows creates an air of luxury to our bed and ties all of the elements together… 2 Euro shams in Juliet Linen provide the frame at the top of the bed, while the white Mandalay, white pillowcases and pillow shams add a crispness.

The Mist piping on the shams connects them visually with the duvet . An elegant pair of muted azure blue Velvet pillows finishes the bed. On those chilly Winter nights, you can layer a cozy blanket and drift off to sleep…  Sweet Dreams!”

Mara and Jesse went through several iterations of their bed design before happily landing on a mix of old and new. “By incorporating both Peacock Alley favorites with select pieces from their new, Spring line we were able to achieve a look that truly represents both Peacock Alley and Carrier and Company.  It also shows loyal clients how to keep adding to and refreshing their collections of Peacock Alley. Our bed is predominantly white – using the clean, but pretty detailing of the Modern Heirloom Cadence hemstitch sheeting.  Montauk, a white matelassé, has a pebbled textured and is finished with a linear detail which gives the bed a tailored feel. Pillows and shams are used to mix shape and color. Mandalay linen euros, in Lagoon are monogramed in a tonal thread  - it is a subtle and luxe detail.

Flora Printed Shams provide hints of color, while their straight hems are more sophisticated than sweet. One Penelope boudoir pillow in white pique with its ruffled flange is the unabashedly sweet moment on the bed. The duvet, folded at the foot of the bed, is a richly textured blue  - blending high and low tones, much like a pool of water, in Biagio Mist.  The linear patterning is handsome, and the blues pick-up the palest references to the color in the shams, connecting the foot of the bed to the head of the bed.  The bed is finished with a beautiful throw in basketweave linen (Majorca throw) as a reminder that however pretty, a bed is meant to encourage rest – even naps!”
